Another of my favourites, SS Hammerhead on parade belt. Love the pattern of the buckle melted into the belt... :D

Ok your going to have to educate me on SS buckles, Anything SS is something I try to avoid like the plague, its a damn minefield, but I have always been under the belief that Original SS buckles can be easily ID if you can see the outer "rope" circle on the left, as you look at it,go behind the wing and carry on towards the neck of the eagle, so are there variations in this trait???, this info came from an SS collector on WRF years ago, its supposed to be one of the "tells"

There are always exceptions, maker variations and early versus late.

The Hammerhead as it's known amongst collectors, for example has a totally weird shaped eagle's head. Hence the name hammer head. ;)

I'm not sure the maker @Davejb, they are very early and not much is known about them... I don't think they've been tied to a specific maker yet...

SS EM/NCO's Belt Buckle, "Hammerhead" Version.  Early nickel SS EM/NCO's Belt Buckle known as the "Hammerhead" version because of the style of the head.  This example is an extremely rare style of SS EM/NCO's belt buckle and this piece is of the earliest production.  This is only the second such example I have owned.  This rare example is absolutely correct and this style is verified as original by my friend, SS buckle specialist JP Redeuilh  who is currently working on a site that will be exclusively devoted to the study of SS buckles.

There are various faked SS buckles, the so called "Hammerhead buckle" as shown by Lenny is not yet faked but I am sure they will appear at some point.

BTW nice buckle Lenny, would look very good in my display cabinet :)
