Ok, after the success of the last day out, anyone up for this? Sorry it's the North of England if that's too far away. (Members overseas can hold their own MCN day out as long as you get a minimum of 3 to turn up.. ;) )

So, who's up for a visit? You get to climb inside the Vulcan.. :D

    The Vulcan Bomber

Access to the Vulcan cockpit is included in your museum admission. Please advise the counter staff if you wish to visit so that they can book a slot for you on one of the tours.

A Few things to consider before visiting the Vulcan cockpit.

    • To get in to the Vulcan cockpit you do need to climb a ladder – if you are not confident on ladders please take this in to account.
    • This visit is not suitable for Children under 7 years of age.
    • The cockpit and crew areas are small and cramped. It may feel uncomfortable for anyone who suffers from claustrophobia.
    • The maximum number of visitors allowed in the cockpit on a tour is 5.

Solway Aviation Museum is home to a collection of aircraft, aviation artifact’s and displays reflecting Britain’s position as a world leader in aircraft design and innovation at the dawn of the jet age.

The museums’ primary objective is the preservation of our Aviation heritage, its display and interpretation. Take a nostalgic journey back to Wartime Cumberland and the men and women of the RAF who served in WWII.

The museum is run by a dedicated team of volunteers who give up their free time to painstakingly restore many of the exhibits. Through their love and knowledge they are preserving aviation history for generations to come.

Tanks a lot...see what I did there?? ...:) I'd go to Bovington, as long as a sea angling trip was organised out of Lymington or Weymouth as well as a visit to the tank museum...:)

Right guys here is a teaser, ............visited today and I cannot stress what a cracking friendly little museum this is !.They are self funding so need as much help as they can, they will open up the Vulcan simulator for you budding Foxtrot Oscars to have a bash in,and their other flight sims too.And MCN members will be given access to 'Off limit' areas.

I will leave it up to @Lenny to sort dates out etc now,but let's have a meet and a crack, they have a little cafe area and a excellent gift shop too,as the airport is operational they also have guests dropping in .....six apaches and eight chinooks today so who knows what you might see !.

I have been informed there is a cafe that does good grub @Norrie in the main airport building and it's cheap too lol.Its just 8 miles from junction 43 on the M6 Carlisle. So here's some of what they have......and before you ask I didn't take any pics of the tin triangle because we already know what that looks like lol (Lenny) but the difference is theirs you can go in !........Enjoy !
