Good day, gentlemen!
Here I would like to show you my latest addition to my collection.
My M17 by GBN64 I chose this one for my avatar as it is my favorite helmet at the moment ;)
The interior is a little rough and it's missing its chin strap, but hey for a 99 year old I think it looks amazing.

Best regards!

'Mimikiri', is that the word they use for helmets that were used by German expeditionary troops, such as in China or East Africa? I've heard it recently.

Its a blinder of a helmet, well done!

Thank you! Glad you like it :)
No, "Mimikiri" is just another word for adaptation camouflage. Which is widely used to describe this type of camouflage pattern on german ww1 helmets.
All german helmets was ordered to be camouflaged in a similar fashion in the summer of 1918.

Just seen this...what an absolutely wonderful example of a late war helmet...I thought my M.16 was nice, but yours eclipses it by a country mile! :o:D

I just got this from Germany, was used during WW1 then it seems taken home by the soldier then kept until WW2 and possibly given to a son or family member that joined the Hit/ Youth....as you can see on the front the HJ emblem painted with a Swaz (covered)

Thanks for looking....Best to you all...Desert Rat

That is an enigmatic piece Ian, I don’t know the significance of the emblem, or who or why it’s been painted on, maybe some sort of vet art...a good conversation piece re the paint scheme and insignia for sure though...I can’t see a swastika though, and if ones there, it doesn’t need to be censored here! This ain’t Farcebook!!😗

Great helmet , but theres no need to cover up a Swastica , on this forum, that piece could be a defining tell as to authenticity and give us an idea, no doubt it was painted on by the original owner, but it would be good to see the helmet , warts and all

Hello To you all and thanks for your valued comments, the Swaz was covered over when I saw it on a European website and bought it, so I used the same images, now in the correct section I have added the new images with the Swaz. Yes Dave I believe it was painted on by hand when he took possession of the helmet, as you can see close up, not a transfer....Best to you all....Desert Rat/ Ian

Great helmets everyone! The german term “mimikri” is nothing either fancy, nor exotic and I guess our friend Hetz got that info from some “dumbaby experte” over st some site such as the WAF or the Helmet Jamballah!

Hello to you all,

Just got this WW1 German (as you know) helmet, I think M16, but an unusual cammo effect for the winter front.

I, hope you like it, makers number  / size inside, and two slight splits either side due to battle damage.

It will be on MCN for sale soon (I hope I get it in the right place)

Best to all of you...Desert Rat/ Ian
