Davejb
I remember seeing Lightnings at Farnborough, back in the 60s, they were fantastic, the speed and acceleration on take off made your whole body shake, and when they went vertical it was something that no-one had seen before, especially at that speed, and during those days there was no restriction on height over crowds, so they would fly low right along the runway at full speed, blink and you missed them. I believe South Africa have the last remaining full flying examples of which i think theres only three or four left
Guest Fred Karno's Army
Britains leading edge in postwar aviation at its best in my opinion, and then there's the TSR2. Now don't get me started on politics of the period and the loss of what certainly was going to be a ground breaking aircraft in both design and concept.
