40mm Bofors shells

Bought a couple of 40mm practice projectiles last week off a nice Scottish chap. They were in half decent nick but  had no markings or paint left on them at all. So, decided to paint them up. :)

Had to take the bench grinder to them to get them to fit in the shell cases, but don't think I've done too bad. The stenciling has come out very nicely :)

That is very kind of you, but I am strictly WW2. :):) Lovely shell cases, but I would always look at it and think..... 'you shouldn't be in my War Room......' :):)

You have to resist! Think of what you could buy from WW2 with the money!

LOL, I cant tho....my willpower is zero on things military...:)

TBH, the things I've had in the past when I was lots younger, and either gave them away or swapped them...all brought home by an uncle who fought  in WW2..I could kick myself now...:(

Yep, I was a boy, and didnt realise the importance of the things...things like the German helmet with decals, ( It was green with no liner, but had a chinstrap)  the German Pith helmet,The British Pith helmet, his Para beret with badge...,  the sword stick, the leather Webley holster, etc... their were other things, but for the life of me, I cant remember what they were...his Webley Revolver was handed into the police,I remember that day like it was yesterday, I'd been told it was to be mine when I grew up...and almost cried when my gran gave it to the cop.....:(

  • 4 months later...

The projectiles don't look right for some reason. Are they later L70s?

WW2 era practice shells should be painted as shown.

Cheers, Graeme
