Gone to........tally left field on this one !.
As you know my passion is The Great War but I have as most of you know anything connected to the Normandy campaign still tugs at my heart strings.Well my latest acquisition is a large collection of paperwork and diary belong to a gentleman who was killed on +D16 at is now buried in Bayeux cemetery.  A lot of research needed on this one,and there is every chance he served throughout the North African campaign before being killed in Normandy.
 We will remember them

It all arrived today, everything from his marriage certificate and receipt for the wedding ring to his diary which entries finish the day before he was wounded and his subsequent tragic death.Looking at his picture he obviously served in the North African campaign as he has the ribbon on his battle dress and his first diary entry for 1944 shows him embarking from Naples.

   And now further research begins.

An interesting snippet as the date of his wounds are the 14th of June, and he was1/5th Queens regt of the 131 Brigade .Therefore directly involved with this action.
