Had this one a while and had to chase the seller across a large field to get it but not to common in the small bomb range and uses the extended tail fins to stop tumbling .

I cant recall now if this case used SD tails?

Yes it does take similar tales as the spigot on the back of the bomb matches the rebate on an SD

Yes there the ones and took ages getting them right but they fit lovely again

An early SC50 and the SC50L before restoration. Plus a fractured SC70,due to low detonation.

Superb Items,

Lucky man and well done for finding them!

(Not sure about chasing a man across a field though......He must have been knackered carrying all weight, by the time you caught him)

Best to you.....IanB

I will restore the SC50L first of all, will do the fractured 70 next and finally the other 50.  Should have plenty to keep me occupied over Winter.

Mine arrived back from the engineer today.

He has straightened out the tail spigot and the baseplate threads for me.

When the new soak tank arrives next week,it will be dipped in an anti rust agent for a few days. Dried out and painted in primer for the next stage.

Hello Waff,

It's looking very good....What's evaporust,....a type of primer/ undercoat?

Look forward to the finished item....Best to you....Ian

It’s an anti rust treatment that removes rust and leaves paint. It must be dipped in fully or it leaves a ‘line’ where it breaks the surface.

Dry off and get the item primed quickly!

Top coat next spring when the weather suits. It’s too cold in my unit

Thanks Waff,

Get it on the kitchen table for a good clean and spray up....sure it will ok???

I used to do the same with my motorcycle parts as I wanted to re-build them and to clean & spray...but never heard the last of it from my Mum, when I was 16-17.

Now I know....Best to you....Ian

The price will be right plus shipped over to the Stoneleigh show in January. Many more items too.

Mind,I’ve put the effort in this last week. Me and the boss have driven 3000 kilometres round trip.... I’ve to keep it clandestine from Facebook and general social media though.

Here is fine

Brilliant Waff,

They will look fantastic when all cleaned and painted....By the way are these rare / very rare  to find? as I have never seen anything at all like this!

All I know is where a V1 came down near Edenbridge, Kent.....Near to me and in a wood, saw it some years ago and the metal parts are still sticking out of the ground (yes it did explode as it killed some cows in the field, but my mates Dad who was a farmer and owned the land watched it come down.....running for his life to the nearest barn...when the engine cut out (10 seconds to run like hell!)

Do you reckon it's worth to get the detector out and start digging?

This V1 we now understand was set (fuel wise) to hit Churchill's house in Chartwell, as the crow flies only possibly 1 mile away!

Best to you.....Desert Rat/ Ian

Hello Waff,

With all your work a good beer tonight  maybe?

Yes I will have a look for the "Doodlebug" when I feel better.

Here is an image of a V1 on it's launch pad, I found it way out from Rouen, France...in a forest, brilliant site and well worth a visit.(It took me 3 hours to bloody find it though)

Best to you & Have a good weekend

Ian
