Guest Fred Karno's Army
In the heritage museum where I have the Great War Heritage Project here in Morecambe Lancashire they decided to do a display on the town during WW2 as it was a large RAF basic training station. I provided them with some RAF and home front bits for the window display, and sat going through some photos today to come across the one below of the 109, almost right opposite where the centre is. Wonder whatever happened to it .
Desert Rat
Superb and the recollections from the war days! Like the ME109.....but would prefer a Spitfire in my garden.....Best Wishes Paul IanB
revolver
Sorry Desert Rat, but oh how I would like a 109. I keep asking my wife to buy me one, but ....... Great post. It would be worth contacting FLYPAST or some other such aviation magazine, their readers might be able to shed some light on the 109's eventual fate. Sadly I suspect it was the smelter. Great article Fred! Revolver
Desert Rat
Well Revolver, I guess I would like one of each....There are two superb models in the grounds at - Biggin Hill/ Kent - a famous fighter base during WW2, a Spitfire & Hurricane....If only I could get a blowtorch one dark night and have a low loader with a hoist....and all the police and passers by were gone...mmmmmmmmm....Difficult one, but I am sure it would be reported, I would be visited and 10 + years in the slammer.....!!!....OK I will buy x2 1/16 plastic model kits, glue up. paint and hang it in my office...Best I can do.....S****T...!!!
