Norrie Posted September 22, 2018 Share Posted September 22, 2018 (edited) Hiya Guys...It's really great to be back here again...:) I've had this helmet for some time now, and this is really the first time I've looked at it "properly"... Its brown in colour, inside and out, with no other layers of paint visible...and has one number stamped into just above the rim...604....I think... The liner has the remains of a green cammo net...all original to the helmet. The liner is dated 1952, so, I assume the lid is the same age...that's mainly what I'm trying to discover, the age of it....if anyone can tell me, that would be great....:) I got it with no chinstrap, but managed to get hold of a couple of unissued QR straps and fitted one to this particular helmet. Mark K Posted September 22, 2018 Share Posted September 22, 2018 (edited) Hi @Norrie a great example there the helmet it self in known as the Mk II HSRAC production first began on these in 1945 so it likely did not see war time service.. You can tell by the dimple in the top of the helmetbody this of course is to attach the stud for the lift the dot style fastener in the liner will need to have a better look once I am on my PC perhaps we can figure out the year and manufacturer... Ps..I absolutely love the chinstrap with quick release on the side of memory serves me correct these first seen production in 1944... Kind Regards Mark K Thanks @Mark K....that would be fantastic.....I have looked and looked, and cannot see any other stamps except for the "604" stamped quite lightly in the the area near the rim.... Mark K Posted September 22, 2018 Share Posted September 22, 2018 (edited) Hi @Norrie yes I agree much better light outdoors in diffused sunlight just one more quick note on these P pattern type helmetbodies I am of the opinion it will have been produced by BMB because of the overlapping rim joint but will have to confirm that later ..
