Manu Della Valle
Beautiful, mint pair of 1941-dated WH/WSS-issue schnurschuhe. If it wasn’t for the age-related wrinkles and scuffs they may as well have been made next week. The leather is incredibly supple and there’s not the slightest sign of oxidation on the metal parts.Only the distinctive smell of old leather tells you that these boots are in the same, exact conditions they were in when consigned to the Bekleidungsamt in July 1941. The ink stamp inside the boots meet the ones on the soles, and only the length size stamped on the latter differs.I’ve posted a Luftwaffe-issue spare sole from a Schuster’s box for comparison. The two soles are virtually identical size-wise and it only goes to show that over at Hansen Schuhe Fabrik a worker short on middle sizes used the next one which incidentally was a perfect fit. I’ve owned literally hundreds of pairs of WW2 German footwear and each pair comes with an interesting surprise, another being that two R19 heels irons have been used on this pair. cheers
