Desert Rat
Hello Mark, Exactly, all that people want to see are the Picklehaubs, WW1 British, German helmets, and all the WW2 helmets.....shame they don't seem to realise the evolution of the helmet over 100 (in fact probably 1, 000 years) to what the Forces wear today. Some are not interested, maybe because they are so modern, and most of us (including me) like to see the helmets from WW1 onwards...but times will change, but I do as you like to see the modern helmets, as many years ago, they were heavy, uncomfortable, fell over the eyes, sweaty, and not so good at all from bullet or schrapnel fragments...Most soldiers during WW1 died or were killed due to schrapnel wounds from shells rather than bullets to the head. I have a few primers here I am trying to sell, the actual WW1 primers that were screwed into the top of the shell....they weigh 2.2 pounds....and these were primed to explode or detonate about 50 - 100 feet above the oncoming troops, if this weight was to hit your steel helmet in WW1, there would be no chance and I am sure that alone killed many thousands.....Keep up the good work collecting them Mark.....Ian
Police Collector
They're fuzes, not primers.
