Afrikakorpsrat64
Just picked up this text book M42, some mouse nips to the pig skin liner, but decent paint and still retains the dome stamp. ckl 64. Price was right. Was missing the strap but I had an extra buckle so i put it on. 1

Major General Bil4338 Posted November 23, 2018 Major General Share Posted November 23, 2018 NO!!!!!!!!! Should leave it well alone, that’s patina from its history ffs, but I wouldn’t think Tony would follow your bad advice anyway Ian! beautiful ND M.42 as is, pity about the nips to the liner but it tells a story. 1 1
Desert Rat
Thanks Bil, I just thought that the beeswax would bring out the original colour.....seems I am completely wrong! I am a typical amateur in these items. Sorry Tony and Bil.....my mistake! Best wishes to you all....Ian Edited November 23, 2018 by Desert Rat correction to text
Afrikakorpsrat64
Thanks guy's. Yes Ian ( @Desert Rat ) Thats the late war Non reflective paint they used. Shiny helmet made a dead German. I do sometimes use a museum wax as it doesnt harm the finish but will protect from rust. I have a drafty house so its a must. Cheers!
