WW2 BRITISH RAIL...LOOK OUT ARMBAND

Desert Rat

Recommended Posts

I have just bought this WW2 British Rail Enamel Badge, with leather arm strap...I presume used by all railway staff on the lookout for German planes?, unexploded bombs on the railway tracks, or anywhere they thought that German bombs had destroyed the track--to give warning to Head Office of the problem or destruction etc

If you have any ideas...please let me know.

Many Thanks & best to you......Desert Rat/ Ian

It's for when work is being done on the tracks, they have a designated person watching for trains, nothing at all to do with WW2!

British Rail was formed on 1 January 1948, so its nothing to do with the war or war time, its just a BR badge, I hope you did,nt pay to much for it

If I were you I would go back to where you got it, and tell the seller that he should brush up on his dates, I wonder how many things he has sold that he says are War time and are not and conned people, it would have been so easy for him to check that it was a 1960,s era badge
