kriegsfunker
This just arrived. I haven't really seen another one for sale for a very long time, so decided to pick it up. The external wires are all falling apart, so will have to be replaced. Funksammler, I know you have one, what do the wire connectors look like?
Funksammler
Mine had the battery cabling replaced as well. I assume they used the standard "Spreizstecker" connectors for the anode batteries as with the Torn.E.b and other battery powered equipment. Great find, I absolutely love this pre-war stuff! regards, Funksammler
val
Those tube heat spreaders/protection domes are just awesome!!!
kriegsfunker
It will look nice with either the 5WS or the 100WS. Was there a configuration number for the Spez. and either of those transmitters?
val
Yes, everywhere where Torn.E.b was used, earlier Spez 445 Bs was used. See here: http://www.lexikon-der-wehrmacht.de/Waffen/Funkgeraete.htm BTW, under those domes seems to be some kind of heat resistance material...maybe asbestos? Funksammler
Yes, just FU9 and FU11 as with the Torn.E.b. You need to find a nice early 5 W.S.: regards, Funksammler

kriegsfunker
What was your antenna setup?
Funksammler
They would have used a Steckmast with "Schirmantenne" 3/3: Unfortunately I did not have the space to install the radials in my setup, but you get the idea: regards, Funksammler
val
Yuri, when you start repairing your 445Bs, make a lot of images. There are so few inside images of this pre-war stuff.
kriegsfunker
Val - I definitely will. And will post them here and on my site. Thank you Funksammler for the nice photos of the kit. The poles look mint condition. Did you find them this way, or did you restore them?
kriegsfunker
What's interesting is that this receiver was made by both Lorenz and Telefunken.
