kriegsfunker
I just picked up a SADIR receiver. I've seen several photos of these, and there are differences between them. Here are pics of the one I picked up.
Desert Rat
Hello Kreigs, Thanks for the images, a nice item, I know nothing about these but looks very interesting, it has the power packs/ batteries? Was it used in the field by the German Army? Best to you.....Desert Rat/ Ian

Funksammler
The Sadir R87 was used by the Luftwaffe as a VHF intercept receiver. For a large part of the war, the German industry could not produce VHF receivers in sufficient numbers, so the French R87 VHF receiver was adapted for the German Luftwaffe use. Different subtypes were manufactured covering different VHF bands. These VHF bands were used by allied aircraft, so the Sadir receivers were used to monitor VHF radio traffic between the allied bomber streams and their fighter escorts. Some versions of the receiver were adapted for direction finding ("Tornado" DF stations) so that location of the enemy formations could be monitored. The Sadir R87was exclusively used by the Luftwaffe, not by the Heer. regards, Funksammler

kriegsfunker
Thanks Val. I am curious about the purpose of the location of the antenna connector. You see some units with the antenna connector on top, and others with it in the rear, like mine. What is the purpose of it? I also have two mounting brackets at the bottom of the receiver. The frequency scale window is also in different locations. mine has the German data plate on top, and no French one on the front.
Funksammler
Here is my R87, it still has the French type plate, although all the legends are in German. This one has the antenna socket on the top. regards, Funksammler
