WWII German gas mask canister

Recommended Posts

I picked this up at a estate sale in Stockton CA. I seen it and knew what it was they did not. I always keep a eye out for helmets that were converted into strainers but have yet to find one. I think stuff like this is a little more rare in the US. I think it is pretty cool. Any of you seen this before? Or know is there any value. It seems to be baked on stoneware.

Quite a lot of it over here in Germany. I have a couple of bits not particularly valuable.

I tried to post a youtube link to post war production of this stuff. If you search 'making pots from German helmets 1946' you will land on the video of an old news reel.

Wow what great stuff. It's a shame we've become a throw it away society. I like the black helmet strainer it's cool it still has most of it's original appearance. Thanks Rich for the post.
