Desert Rat
Thanks Dave, Yes watching it, brilliant! I have had the extreme priveledge of meeting two SOE agents some years ago - George Millar (Code Name - Emile) who invited me down to meet him at his house near Dorchester, and then I finally found his war time friend Georges Molles, and some of the Champioux Maquis, in Veilley, near Besancon. Then to meet the Dear Pearl Witherington (Cornioley) SOE at her retirement home in Chateauvieux, near Tours, some years ago before she died, she was a wonderful Lady to meet and I spent many a long time with her, chatting about her Maquis exploits and battles with the Germans. I have met a few Heroes and Heroines, especially Michou Dumon (Ugeux) code name - Lily, from "The Belgian Comete Line" 3 times, what a lovely lady, small petite...yet she alone took her Allied shot down airmen (parcels) , across the Belgian French border all the way by train, walking to Angelet, near St Jean - de Luz, then over the Pyrenees with her Basque guide - Florentino- in all weathers to the Spanish frontier...taking at times during severe weather conditions, rain, fog, heat, snow....up to 24 hours, and rescued over 200 Allied Airmen Moments I will never forget to meet such Heroes and Heroine's...!!!
