Björn
Some time ago, I managed to get hold of a complete DRK nurse uniform and some papers, wich all come from the same woman, Hildegard König. A really nice lot that actually belongs together. The paper part consisting of her Personal enlistment papers as a DRK Samariterin i 1935, and her DRK Helferin Ausweis from 1938, and her Promotion papers to DRK Vorhelferin in 1939 And here are some pictures of the uniform lot, that the papers came with. I put the whole ensemble up on a mannequin: The shoes that came with the set, show several different repairs. Just the way I like to see it. During the war you could just not go out and buy new shoes, everything was rationed. You had to repair the shoes you had I also got a pair of rubber boots with the set. These are in very good contition, without any cracks or sign of decay of the rubber. I also got one extra apron with the set. Here is the DRK brooch that came with the set. And here is the only thing that I have added to the set, wich was not included in the lot. Original DRK armband. DRK did not only run field hospitals. Many Soldatenheimen was run by DRK and DRK-Schwestern Edited October 12, 2019 by Björn
Richard Auld
Very nice set, love the rubber boots, I used similar in Canada on exercise at BATUS way back, they were quite expensive but a sound investment. Rich

Björn
Thanks for the kind words guys. Anyway, the DRK nurses also had more responsibilities, as real nurses around the military hospitals during the war. I have found that the different branches, Heer Luftwaffe and Marine had their own designated hospitals - Heeres, Luftwaffe und Marine Lazaretten. Here's a interesting photo from Bundesarchiv. The patients are actually watching TV as early as 1942.. Please note the uniforms, or Lazarettanzug that the patients in the pictures are wearing. I have actually managed to include one set of these clothings consisting of jacket and trousers, into my collection. Lots of nice stampings in the jacket Heeres Lazarett stamping. I have seen other clothes of this type, with Luftwaffe and Marine Lazarett stampings inside. The F.San stamping inside, is a post war norwegian Forsvarets sanitet - Army medic stamping. And the trousers to this set: Edited October 12, 2019 by Björn

Desert Rat
Just wondering Bjorn....How big is your house for all these great collectables.....Or have you got a Museum round the corner to display it....??? Best to you....Ian
Björn
Well. I did have a room in our house where I kept the stuff. But I had to remodel the room to a children's room for our youngest son. At the moment almost everything from my collection is carefully packed away. The good news is that I am currently working on expanding the house, to accomodate my collection, and actually making a private museum. This is the house as it looks today: And these are some of the drawings that I made for the expantion application. I'm expanding 8X9 meters for housing my collection.
