RAD Fake Hewer

Yesterday evening Rich and I had a conversation about RAD buckles that were faked. There are many spurious items being offered as legitimate when they are not, some are very dangerously convincing. I will show some of the most prevalent ones and try to offer tips on how to spot these. First up a very bad rendition of the hewer with a rather black grip and scabbard compared to an original, one should easily see the quality difference immediately. The blades motto "Arbeit Adelt"  ( Work Ennobles ), the maker mark and the RAD acceptance mark are on the wrong sides. The scabbard is dull and mundane, the lines are not present in the circle eight type pattern and the bottom is also void of any real quality we would see in a original. These types are currently found to be marked " Boker ". The stag grip handle screws are also pretty bad and look like ordinary screws, when one judges by the original that are semi slotted and recessed, hence the newest fake with the more stag like colored grip and slotted screws but with a twist, a added fake RAD insignia on the grip. The motto and proof marks are still reversed and that along with the added bling on the handle and also marked "Boker", with the same shoddy scabbard should raise a red flag. Hope this helps someone when contemplating making a purchase. G
