We see the first pattern RAD hat circa 1935 that is devoid of a "Bill" and the claw belt buckles before the standard issue buckle of 36' BUT is little known fact that the RAD did use the official RAD claw buckle in order to replace the FAD one as we see in this period advert of "Old" buckle and "New" type, the buckle was made for the RAD and is marked so, One other tidbit, the open neck pattern and four buttons indicates 35' as there were several patterns of tunics during the years of the RAD , also the new RAD rank structure which is by the way "Obervormann" , this is sometimes how I decipher age or year of certain photos. ( Color pic cred Wim. P.B.R. Saris, Vol.5 Headgear of Hitler's Germany )
