LA6NCA
I wonder when was 5W.S.b developed? I know it's quite early, but could they be 1931 or 1934? It was produced for a long time, until 1943, so it must have been a good design. What kind of use did it have? What kind of units used it during WW2? Do you have more to tell about this? Björn
Utrolig flott radiosett, og super video av utstyret i bruk. Ikke minst artig å se en annen Nordmann her inne også I believe the first 5 W.s. came around 1934-35 (althou I could be wrong. I have not seen such an early example) I do have a 1938 dated 5W.s. in working condition. It's the earlier type without the built in Kunstantenne. Björn
I'm also collecting antenna parts, ( 8 meter Kurbelmast) to be able to put up a decent display of a working radiostation Edited September 23, 2020 by Björn 1

Hi LA6NCA, 5 W.S. initial process started in 1930 - defining the need for it and sending to Telefunken and Lorenz tender requests. I believe 5 W.S. as we know it reached finally to troops in 1932. But the road to reach there was bumpy - first there was Spez.271 Bs as precursor to 5 W.S. , but it didn't qualify. Only after Spez.271 Bs Telefunken finally brought 5 W.S. , under the Spez.469 Bs designation, so very early 5 W.S. have Spez.469 Bs designation on the type shield. You can see the pictures of it here : https://www.kpemig.de/5-Watt-Sender-Spez-469-Bs-von-Telefunken-Ueberlackiertes-Stueck-sonst-optisch-einwandfrei-Funktiion-nicht-geprueft And for preserving the history I attach the type shield image here too.
