British army buckles - But what are they off?

Hi All

Found a spot with hundreds of these buckles in today. Tracked down a picture of them in situ on a strap, but got no further!

So, what is the strap off? The buckles were all found right next to the site of an old ammo dump on a British army training site, so could be off vehicles or ammo boxes......or something else!

I am. Which is why I present you with this picture, of a British army Para leg bag. Look above the 'CK' of the word 'Stock'.

I think you'll find that I WIN ! WAHOOOO !

Obviously the buckle may have been used in other items as well, but here is one use at least :)

And yet more examples of this buckle have been tracked down! @Bill @Lenny

Straps for 25lber shells, straps used to keep a bag charge container shut for large calibre artillery pieces.

  • Major General

Which just proves that a lot of rare web gear has been trashed and therefore denied to collectors, a shame but that's the military for you.obsolete equipment gets dumped.
