What and when was your first internet militaria purchase?

Here is mine. It was in the mid 90's before I had ever owned a computer. My nephew showed me Ebay, and I had him bid on this very early East German helmet that I still have in my collection. I got it for $48 post paid.

I think it was a mint german gas mask (without can) to fit into the Pioneer's bag for demolition charges...the Pionieren didn't carry a gas mask canister since they kept  the mask the front pocket of one of their bags!

I got my British WW2 kit free, as it was dumped in large amounts at the tidy tip near where I lived :)

My first two purchased items were an Italian tropical officers cap and a Quist DD SS helmet I think the cap was about £6 and the DD SS was  £15. Sadly I no longer have these items.

In case anyone is wondering this was in the mid 1970's

I've only recently started purchasing military items on the internet.  This French Croix de Guerre is the first.

I can't remember what was my first buy with the help of internet, but I bought a lot!

It was a way to contact people all over the world and exclude the middleman (read: the dealers).

I started buying from the net in the time internet became more available to the "common" people instead of only used by big fancy companies.
It is even possible that my first buys were on the old MCN forum, when it was not even a forum but a newsgroup!!!

Remembering that: I am getting old!!!!   :):):)

Sorry Bill, I hardly remember any one  except for Lenny!

But, that is my thing.......being bad in names and faces! :):):)

However, it is cool to see old members back here!
It shows how relaxed the MCN always was and still is!

No problem, people come and go, and so do names with them, and memories as we progress through life.its no big deal.whats important is that we all 'meet' here and share our knowledge.^_^

That is life!!!!

Put for me it even got worse when I decided to stop with the collection.
A lot of people "declare" you dead in the militaria world.
No problem for me, because by the time I decide to stop I was fed up with all these so called friends!

For me it is there for amazing to see the old school MCN-ers back here on the new forum.
Serious guys that also know how to laugh and to enjoy life!
