Richard Auld
Guys, these were in the job lot yesterday, Have Identified HMS Nelson, The US ships Mississippi, West virginia, Lexington and I just noticed a sub V5 hen I scanned it. Of note is the German writing on the envelopes and the address on the them that appears to be a Electrical company bases on the canal? Mike H
Hard to say about spying. My Father was a P38 Lightning mechanic in the canal zone during the war. I had an older Navy gentlemen tell me that before the US got into the war, 1939 or 40 that his ship once came across what they thought was a german raider around the canal and alerted a British ship that was in the area. He didn't know what became of it though.
Richard Auld
Who knows Mike? It would be a prime area though if you wanted to photograph ships passing through. Hopefully the ship evaded the suspect raider. Rich
