Help IDing WW1 German Helmet?

I ran across what I believe to be a WW1 German helmet at an Antique store. They want 200 firm for it. I have no idea if that is fair a good buy a great buy or over priced. I has no liner and there is dark green paint but rust also. Thanks for any help. I did not buy it because I have no idea what the value is, if its a real WW1 helmet of one by another country in that time period.

200.00?? no way. no liner or chin strap plus the paint is very worn inside and out. there are still many good examples out there although you will pay 600.00 to maybe 800.00 (kind of high) but, it pays to get the best. that which you show is a relic condition shell.

Good point. I would buy it to resell to fund other things I want, but if its too high or all its money then its a bad deal for me.

Hardly a relic, looks to be a nice bit of original paint left... ;)

everything today is over priced. most think they have stuff that is worth a small fortune and in their mind think it is rear. sure ww1 German helmets are a scarce item and to find/get one all original and complete is hard to find but, the old saying is if you want it you will pay for it. why settle for a rusted junk shell? look and wait- things come if you are willing to wait.

Here are a couple of mine to give you an Idea. The one you were looking at, I would say $125/$150 in that condition. I paid $190 and $225 (one with liner pads) for these . The $225 was picked up last year. Both retain most of the orig. paint.
