Got this in a trade about two weeks ago. The leather is still good and it's in pretty good condition with well over 90% of the paint still being on the steel.

Ludenscheid is just the area where the majority of the buckle manufacturers were based, so it's not a maker mark. ;)

Nice looking rig. Any pics of the back of the buckle? That always helps. The maker mark could be ESL (Ernst Schneider)? Does that sound right?

From memory it looked more like a Police/fire tab to me, was stained black, but no extra wide ears on the tab..but hey ho... I'd definetly looks like it.

I think it's been dyed with shoe polish or something. It's a little weird.
