Todd A. Raffensperger
Another member mentioned the great Cold War thriller, "The Fourth Protocol." And it's got me thinking about the multiple films about the Cold War turning HOT. I'm not talking about the "Mad Max" type films, but rather films that tried to realistically depict the consequences of nuclear war. One of my favorites in this lovely little genre is a 1965 film titled "The War Game." The information that it provides about nuclear proliferation is quite dated, but the film is absolutely compelling. It was so grim that the British Government actually banned the film in the UK, even if it did win an Academy Award. If you ever get a chance, WATCH IT.

Todd A. Raffensperger
In the early 1980s, there were two great TV films that depicted life during and after a thermonuclear holocaust. One was "The Day After," broadcast here in the US. The other was "Threads" broadcast in the UK. I've seen both, and I have to say that I think the UK film is more graphic, and better overall. Todd A. Raffensperger
At around the same time as "Dr. Strangelove," there is was also this film about a nuclear crisis. And even though Walter Mathau is one of the stars, it's far from funny. But it is very gripping.
