Steve T
A few years back now and I was rummaging through the boxes of crap that one of the house clearance guys had brought along. He had 30 or 40 boxes of junk and I have learnt, over the years, that you can sometimes find some real gems in them. So I worked through them and came across some motorcycle goggles. I picked them up and looked at them and for some reason, kept picturing Michael Caine, (this was early in my collecting 'career' so my knowledge was nothing like it is now.....). I decided to leave them and walked away, but as I walked around the boot I kept thinking of Michael Caine!! Suddenly it hit me........he was wearing them in The Battle of Britain film! I legged it back to the house clearance guy and thankfully they were still there. £1.50 later and they were mine Mk VIII RAF flying goggles (I put them in this frame to protect them ), missing the strap but what the heck! They were only £1.
