In addition to collecting, I am working on my MA in military history.  After completion, I am considering the possibility of starting a PhD.  After work, family issues, and school, I really do not have too much time for more at the moment.  Once I complete my education, I will buy a PS4(or whatever replaces it) and rekindle my love for WW2 video games.

@PaulR If you like WW2 Games, type in Battalion 1944 on the web and YouTube :)

@HetzersGonnaHetz- I will love that game, but I will not be in a position to play until I complete my degree.  One year more for the MA and another 3-4 for the PhD... God only knows what games will be around by then!

That is one awesome looking train set.

Well it started out as a hobby and has now supported my family for nearly 6 years. Have to say I enjoy it as much these days as when it began so it is still my primary hobby and passion. Decorating A-2's in the many different methods used in the several Theaters of Operation. This isn't a sales pitch fellas and hope I'm not breaking any rules so the following photos and link are for viewing purposes only

And considering I mainly work in the CBI method of multi-layered leather, collectors can rest assured that my items are marked as reproductions. The following are my Chinese "Chops" that are my name (smaller) and "Made in America" LOL, translated into WW2 appropriate Chinese characters. What better way to mark an American made Chinese patch? BTW, My Wife is Thai but studied Chinese caligraphy for 6 years. When I first met her after seeing my 1 hour attempt at copying a Blood Chit, she giggled and said in her Thaiglish "Look like two year old write" Then she proceeded to bust out a perfect one in about a minute flat. I kid you not, that's when I said "please marry me" :D

  • 1 month later...

My other hobbies involve collecting money pits...this is one but it's not a "real" money pit since the values of these "specials" are increased in the past year and I tend to keep it low on mileage!

Cheers

Another is trying to find the MX and enduro bikes I raced when I was younger, and I've recently found this 1990 Enduro TM 125 identical to the last bike my father bought me before passing away! It's a time capsule since it had seen little use,it's 100% original and absolutely rare in these conditions! It only requires a bit of TLC and a conservative restauration!

Lastly, this year I've decided that I wasted too much time after my last Enduro racing season in 2001,therefore I bought myself and prepped a Yamaha YZ250X!This has been a real money pit since its full of mods including titanium and ergal fasteners, carbon fiber, billet triple clamps and hubs, ergal parts aplenty, special wheels and spokes and a ton of other goodies not fitted at the moment!

Cheers

I knew a few "special cunstables" when I was in the job @Satan1800 :D

Oh I knew more than a few and a lot of Barstewards as well, and I can assure you there was nothing "Special" about them whatsoever

I,ve only been underground once, that was at Haworth Colliery during the miners strike. It was an experience I can say that, well over a thousand feet down and a mile and half to the coal face on a little train. Those miners deserved every penny and a lot more, Its a dangerous and filthy job, but their grub in the canteen was marvellous, and tea brought over by a particularly pretty and buxom young Yorkshire lass, who had a thing for men in uniform, I will say no more on the grounds of self incrimination

I also think that miners are amongst the workers who deserve every penny and that each penny is REALLY HARD-earned!

That sounds GREAT Bro!You're lucky for you can take them and ride for a five hundred miles trip without meeting anybody telling you that you're either polluting or disturbing passersby...or fining you for that!If I were in Canada I'd ride my bike into the sunset but here in this stupid, useless, pointless "country" you're treated like a criminal by the nanny/treehuggers/green/ brigades!
