Davejb
I,m not sure great is the word but certainly inspiring , to go through all that without full support, hundreds of taliban attacking, being mortared, running low on food ,ammo, and three guys in easy company killed, one dying later on in hospital, then the sheer tense situation after 50 odd days fighting, of an 8 hour drive through the desert, all the time wondering if they were being driven to an ambush or IED strewn road. That would make anyone paranoid. The immense relief they must have felt once those Chinooks were spotted and had an Apache escort would be hard to explain. The emotion showed in their faces, and even now being interviewed it brought it all back even after 10 years. And to top it all the Taliban gained entry into the town this year after routing the Afghan Defence Force. It makes you wonder why the Government even bothered to send our guys out there.

Too right Bil, I remember watching a WW2 documentary, can't remember which one, and there was an old fella talking about a time they were cut off or along those lines, and he said when you're in that situation, you're not fighting for your King or your country, you're fighting for your mate laying next to ya. I've recorder Heroes of Helmand and will be watching it shortly.
