Afrikakorpsrat64
This ones a bit of a puzzle. I bought it as a post war Early Bundeswehr Helmet. The shell, in my opinion, is a war time Quist shell, by where it is stamped, it no longer has any lot numbers, (Maybe Quist export for Finland ?) The liner is of the post war type, as is the inside paint, I believe the outside was repainted later. The chin strap though seems very crude and cheap. Any thoughts guys? fireman687
I realise this post is now a couple of years old. However, I can confirm that this is a post war German police helmet. A large quantity of these appeared on the market 10 to 15 years ago and from various manufacturers including Quist. Around 50% of them had a Baden-Wuerttemberg decal on the left hand side just to the rear of the vent hole whilst the other 50% had no decals. The chinstrap on this example is not original but the buckle and black loop are.
