Buckle after buckle after buckle after buckle!

Hi all

Went to recon a wooded area on a permission of mine, which I had first visited last year. The gamekeeper told me that they couldn't sell any of the trees from one area of woodland as they were all full of bullets and shrapnel. So, after securing permission, I duly arrived with my MD and started searching.

I found................ Sod all !!!  For an hour and a half absolutely SOD ALL!! I wandered back to the road and saw the gamekeeper approaching in his car so waved him down. I told him there was nothing in the woods and he then pointed out I should be looking down here, (pointing at an area), as that's where the 'action' was. Wish he'd told me at the beginning!!!

On went the detector and I immediately got lots of signals in one very small area, right on the tree line. I strongly suspected it was a pile of Coke cans or fag packets, however..... Another hour later and I had acquired rather a lot of some unusual buckles, which turned out to be off straps for securing 25lbers in transit, or securing the lids on BL charge containers :) Oh, they are also used on British Para leg bags :) The area I was in, I was later told, was where they had the ammo dump for the site.

Next time I'll ask more questions before I start hunting! :)
