Summer 2006 was a good one! :-). Digging wise so to speak! After walking for quite some hours in a big, BIG forest we got a good, clear signal and so the digging began. Very quickly the first, big and rusty shell saw daylight after 60+ years. And after the first one, the second one came up, and a third and fourth. It looked liked we hit the jackpot! Yeah!!! :-). We can write down what we found, but we think the pictures are better. So, on the pictures you see Russian 15cm, German 15cm, German 15cm, German WOI 7.5cm and a 2cm FlaK Mag. Besides that rusty stuff we also found 2 S-mine boxes. Wooden ones. And 1 was in very good condition. (And still is) On the picture below you also see a MG Laufschutzer and a 10cm shell. You would think, they would never find British stuff among all the German stuff….you think wrong :-). Suddenly we came across 5 ammo boxes. All in pretty good condition with a lot of paint and text. Funny thing is that the boxes were full of 2cm FlaK casings. Also amongst the thing we found were the sickgranate racks. Found 3 of them. And found a Gurtfuller for loading the MG ammobelts. In total we found around 125 big shell cases, a couple of 2cm Mags, Bren Mags, a Panzerschreck protectionplate, a bunch of shell protectors and lots more.3 points

Hi there, I've decided to introduce Cadet rank to the system, this is for all new members and you will stay a cadet until you make 10 posts. You will be unable to sell items or have a gallery, use extra features etc. until you reach the rank of Private. I don't want anyone to feel offended by this, it's just to ensure that people don't join up to sell or whatever without taking part in the community. 10 posts isn't a lot, introduce yourself, comment on an item, tell us about your collection. It's just fairer this way...3 points

I cannot say enough just what a fantastic museum this is. Superb ammo collection right through to tanks ,planes etc from ww2 to the Cold War Im lucky enough to go now and again and work on the collection of munitions that belong to my good pal Ben Junier. Ive spent many happy hours grafting in the huge basement not shown to the public. A glimpse of behind the scenes was given in the series Combat Dealers when Bruce met Ben to trade up items. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Overloon_War_Museum2 points

Some of you may recognize the helmet from the FB page, I think it was my first post there. Here is the lid in detail. It looks to have had numerous colors on it and seems to have had a long life "at the front". I really like this helmet, it is by far one of my favorites.1 point

I would love to increase my knowledge on other eras of war, but I've got a lot of reading to do first. I've got so many books to get through such as SS: Hell on the Western Front and Hitler's Generals. Also, I'll post a pic of the cover of a book a friend of a friend is writing. Yes, At the beginning his men saw the horizon light up as Sepp Dietrich's 6th Panzer Army's artillery started up, then his men saw their Armoured protection, a few Tank destroyers, pull out of the village. In the distance he began to notice a large number of grey figures in two columns coming up the road ahead of him, Bouck then called Reg. HQ for Arty support on these FJ soldiers, only to be met by disbelief on the other end of the phone. The FJ troops had their weapons slung, not at the ready. He told his men to ready their weapons for action. Just as they were about to fire, a small girl ran over to the soldiers and pointed towards Bouck's position. The German officer then screamed for his men to take cover. These FJ troops were meant to break open a Gap at Lanzerath, which was opposite the Losheim Gap, for Kampfgruppe Peiper. (Lanzerath was a key hamlet as on Bouck's left was the road leading to Honsfeld, then onto the Ambleve Valley.) Because they needed to take Lanzerath, the German officer sent wave after wave of FJ troops at Bouck's men, only for them to be scythed down by machine guns. Bouck's men only gave up when they were outflanked once they ran out of ammo. His men killed and wounded a total of 400 men from the 9th Regiment, 3rd Fallschirmjäger Division. The delay caused was most important and it was little troop actions like these which stopped the Germans from reaching the Meuse. Thank You for reading, Harvey Below, a photo of a Tiger II at La Gleize, the furthest point Peiper's Panzers got to.1 point

Well, there is a limit of about 2Mb. I'll be re-assesing it. However, we used to have an easy pic resizer that worked. If people are just trying to uplaod straight from their cameras, depending on their camera it could be HUGE filesize. It's generaly better to reduce filesize to under 2Mb for the web anyway. Let me look into it..1 point

The MCN rank structure is as follows, with the posts required to make that rank. You can't move from Other Ranks to Warrant Officers unless you become a moderator. You can't become an Field Officer unless you buy a commission, you can't become a Staff Officer unless you become part of the Admin Team and you can't become Field Marshall just because you can't, that's me and only me. We are also introducing the Quartermaster rank, which is for MCN trusted dealers. More information on this to follow. The colour below is the colour that member's rank shows up in the membership list. Although I like all good war films, I think the early war films have some of the best acting and actors, bearing in mind that most of them served in the war, films like The Cruel Sea, We dive at Dawn,Ice cold in Alex, The purple Plain,The man who never was,I was Monty,s double, Dambusters, these are classics, good entertainment, and not all blood and gore1 point
