  5. We have a fecking profanity filter, which stops me saying what the feck I fecking want about nasty feckers. It learns from profanity, and I'll be downloading a pre-made database. Mind you, I could just read all the political posts in the MCN Facebook page. ;-) Drives me fecking mad. Oh, and as you will work out, it's basically a word swap thing, so I can make it say white is black if I want. was always good for a wind up back in the day.

  6. Hi All I have been finding, recovering and preserving WW2 relics for more than 20 years now. For the first 10 years, I was fairly hit and miss and went digging infrequently. In the past 10 years though I have become a lot more focused and have had some great successes over the years. I have built up a substantial collection of WW2 relics that take up an entire room in my house as well as half the garage I am chairman of the WW2 Relic Retrieval & Preservation Group, (www.ww2rrpg.com), and am also one of the presenters on the TV show 'World War 2: Battlefield Recovery' shown throughout January 2016 on Channel 5 in the UK. Over the years I am not afraid to say I have built up a substantial knowledge of WW2 relics, and it is said that I can identify a rusty piece of crap from 50 yards.......so long as it has something to do with WW2!! Look forward to sharing my knowledge and helping make this the best WW2 forum on the net! Just in case you saw the show and doubt it was actually me, here is an unpublished photo of me having a look at a Russian 23mm VYa cartridge case..... Steve T

  8. Hi All, Here are some photos of one of my Heer tropical field blouses, it is 1940 dated and it has the original factory applied tropical eagle and litzen tabs. This is not a mint un-issued piece, but it has not been worn very much.

  12. I agree with everything you say, and I have seen how much all these unwarranted comments about the programme affected Steve. It has to be said that since it was aired many people are back peddling like mad and remaining quiet, especially those in glass houses who like throwing stones, all told it was an honest series, made by people who considered that history should be preserved but also that human remains be treated with respect and given a decent burial

  13. These people really get my goat, its not only a stupid con but it demeans the actions of the real hero, medals like these are earned through bravery ,then a coward tries to take credit, disgusting .

  17. A mystery surrounded by an enigma, I suppose it possible that yours was an original and the fake ones were based on their design, at a distance they look the part for a film, I do know that they were being made to be thrown, if I could remember the damn name of the film it might help, I do know it was a modern remake of a Medieval battle using modern weapons and Ordnance , I,ll do some checking

  18. This is also from my grandpa he was in the 83rd Division 330th Co. E On April 11, 1945, the 83rd encountered Langenstein, a subcamp of the Buchenwald Concentration camp. When the 83rd Infantry arrived in Langenstein, its troops found some 1,100 inmates in very poor physical condition. The unit reported that the prisoners had been forced to work 16 hours a day in nearby mines and that the SS had murdered those prisoners who became too weak to work. Deaths, the division's report continued, reached 500 per month. Upon overrunning the camp, US troops estimated that the newly liberated inmates weighed only 80 pounds each as the result of malnutrition at SS hands. They also estimated that, due to severe physical debilitation, prisoners continued to die at a rate of 25 to 30 persons per day.

  20. I hate to be the bearer of possibly bad news, but many years ago there was a film being made at Battersea Power Station, I used to sell compounds like jewellers rouge, sizel wheels, polishing compounds etc, one of my customers was a metal workers/forge.They had been given a contract by the Films producers to make about 500 aluminium mills bombs, I saw them on the casting tables, and they were sent out unpainted, each one had PRAC on the bottom as per instructions and had ring pins and spoons, I even tried to get one from the owner of the business but it was a no go, It seems too coincidental that these are ally and have PRAC on the bottom as did yours, hope thats helpful

  23. I have worked out how to do it @pylon1357 Create an album in the gallery section. Upload your photos to your album. Double click on the pictures they have rotated and an edit box will apear. Along the top, one edit function says 'rotate'. Use this to get them the right way round. Go to the thread, (or open a new thread), and click in the text box. Click on 'Insert other media'. Now click 'insert existing attachment' and another window opens. Top left of the box, click 'Gallery images'. Pick the ones you've corrected and job's done.

  24. Here is one of my earlier M1 helmets: A Schleuter fixbale shell with first pattern Hawley liner... The interior of the liner, rayon webbing and fixed leather chinstrap typically for this type of liner can be seen. Enjoy!

  25. Ok, it's time to start inviting everybody. I'll hold off approving their memberships for a day or so, just so I'm happy everything is working ok, but we can't wait forever. Here's the blurb I posted on the MCN Facebook page, feel free to copy and paste it to every Militaria or history contact you know. If you are admin in a group, maybe post there too? Even if the MCN become a place to regroup after FB deletes a group, it'll be worthwhile... Can you feel the excitement building? The relaunched MCN web forum is nearly finished its beta testing. Should be live any day now. To beat the rush, you can pre-register NOW! Just head along to the website and register, your membership will be approved in a few days. Trust me on this, it's looking fantastic. You'll be outwith the whims of FB Admin, no worries the group will disappear, and you know that it will be a proper archive. Things disappear off FB without many seeing them. No more worrying that they'll ban firearm or ordnance sales etc. http://www.militariacollectors.network
