  1. Here is a recent acquisition, shown on the facebook forum but i will be posting more in here now to get things moving. Restored by my old friend Phil. Eventually came to me in a trade up,im very happy with the item. Used before a raid to light up the target by the pathfinders i would have thought? Came with the original type 9 fuze. I added the tailfins. Concrete filling in the nose, the body is a thin walled tin composition.

  6. The MCN rank structure is as follows, with the posts required to make that rank. You can't move from Other Ranks to Warrant Officers unless you become a moderator. You can't become an Field Officer unless you buy a commission, you can't become a Staff Officer unless you become part of the Admin Team and you can't become Field Marshall just because you can't, that's me and only me. We are also introducing the Quartermaster rank, which is for MCN trusted dealers. More information on this to follow. The colour below is the colour that member's rank shows up in the membership list. OTHER RANKS Private 50 Lance Corporal 100 Corporal 250 Sergeant 500 Staff Sergeant QUARTERMASTER Trusted Dealer WARRANT OFFICERS (Moderators) Warrant Officer 3rd Class 250 Warrant Officer 2nd Class 500 Warrant Officer 1st Class Field Officers (Paid Commission) Second Lieutenant 250 Lieutenant 500 Captain 750 Major 1000 Lieutenant Colonel STAFF OFFICERS (Admin Team) Colonel 500 Brigadier 750 Major General 1000 Lieutenant General 2500 General CHIEF OF STAFF Field Marshall

  9. All updated now. I previously had to fudge it by manually adjusting post count. Now it's done properly, I've recounted the post count so you will see your actual true post count. (I had over 100,000 which was nonsense designed to make me a Field Marshall. ;)) Anyway, I'll put up a pinned post explaining the ranks....

  19. From a site that I'm licensed to dig on I recovered this no 80,13 pounder shrapnel shell fuze. It's to all intense and purposes brand new although it has been entombed in airless mud for nearly 100 years it was still free and moving . Marked no 80 mkv11 11/17 VSM it still had its original leather sealing washer intact ,so I am pulling this apart to give it a complete restoration and would like to share with you. Nothing live or nasty was found within this fuze so totally ffe

  20. just normal Lenny. What I have done was log in, then redid the bookmark when already logged in and that seems to have worked as this time I came straight to the forum without issues. Jerry

  27. Yes...although not too common, it was done from time to time to buckles - sometimes by the soldier, and sometimes these were purchased from the manufacture and added by a tailor or even a cobbler, used to working with leather. Cool piece!! Rob

  30. I'm a bit of a Landy fan, had a few Series 3's and probably about due for another one.. I also do a bit of recording, but mainly for voice overs. I run a photography/video production business, but my wife's a musician so I often hang about in recording studios if she's doing session work or working on an album...

  32. Looking nice, very little wear on it... looks like a GB to me, normally their maker mark is here, but is often very lightly stamped. Generally GB's are date stamped under the prong bars like this... I've got a GB40, a couple of 41's and 42. I'm quite partial to tropicals, x7 Heers and one Lufty.

  35. Yes COI is a great film with good actors but it gets a bit stupid at the end, another good film is Hell is for Heroes with Steve Mc Queen, graphic but pretty realistic, also Dunkirk with that old stalwart Sir John Mills, the beach scenes were pretty good albeit it was made in the 50s and special effects were not that great then, but the amount of extras involved was impressive and yet you hardly saw many Germans, We all know Bridge on the River Kwai , another excellent film with many fine actors, Percy Herbert who appears in many war movies was actually the technical advisor on the film as he was a Japanese POW and he also suggested the theme tune whistle, Colonel Bogey, Herbert died in 1992 after complications due to his time in captivity during the war in Changi, yet during his acting period he made 70 odd films mainly as a soldier and also in comedies, some of the best war movies were the ones he appeared in
